It was easy to ignore the light that filtered into our dorm room through the curtains. Yes that was very easy. What wasn’t easy was the fact that my roomie, Liz, had jumped on my bed and was now bouncing and calling my name, begging for me to wake up. Finally giving in after a few moments of failed attempts of trying to ignore her I sat up and glanced at the way to hyper girl. She smiled brightly at me and showed off the perfectly pointed fangs that adorned the corners of her mouth. “Yes?” I asked in a dull, drug out tone.
“We have time to go hang out before our first class.” She announced in a sing song voice. This forced me to sigh and roll my eyes.
Had this been anywhere but Shooting Star Academy Liz would be sleeping, hiding from the painfully bright sun. But here she was safe to wonder outside during the day. Even being a vampire. I myself had no worries to begin with. Being a light elf I found comfort in the daylight. “Fine let me get ready.” I huffed and pushed myself from the comfort of my bed and over to the closet. I quickly pulled off what passed as a night gown and donned the white button up shirt, black and white plaid skirt, and suspenders that was our uniform. On the right sleeve of the shirt laid a cresent moon and star that was the sign of our school.
I then brushed out my hair and wrapped a black ribbon around the nap of my neck and over the top, tying it so that a bow lay on the side of my head slightly. Once done I looked at Liz, who had been ready since I awoke, and gestured to the door.
We walked down the spiral stairs that lead to the lobby of the girl’s dorm and out the double glass doors. It wasn’t long after we got outside that we spotted our friend Arno, blindly walking towards us. His powder blue eyes looked past us, not seeing anything. He wore a white button-up, black slacks, suspenders, and a paper boy styled white hat. His cured hair was pulled into a tight pony tail at the nap of his neck and hung just slightly past his shoulders. Liz opened her mouth to call out to him just as he ran straight into a too giant vase.
“Arno! Come on you know how to not run into things.” I called as Liz ran up to him. I followed close behind.
“Ah but what fun is that?” He smirked and cocked his head slightly as he steadied himself and brushed himself off.
Liz laughed and pulled herself up onto the edge of the vase. “Hey Arno you wanna join us? We’re going to the Raver.” She was talking about the on campus cafĂ© that was open twenty hours a day. Students were allowed to hang out there as long as class wasn’t in session.
“What we never decided on that.” I narrowed at my eyes at her wondering what she was up to.
“I know, but that new kid will be there. He works the morning shift.” And so the reason she wants to go.
